COVID and The Highland Fly

While Tasmania still remains in a cycle of border controls generally related to events in other states and territories, the Tasmanian Premier implemented significant border restriction changes that took effect from 15 December, 2021.

The Tasmanian COVID website https://coronavirus.tas.gov.au/travellers-and-visitors/coming-to-tasmania is always the best place to go to get the latest details about Affected Regions and to apply to enter the State via the G2G PASS system. However, to help prick your interest in finding out whether you can start planning to visit Tasmania, I can advise that, provided you are fully vaccinated and provided you have established COVID-free status prior to arrival, from December 15 you will be able to visit Tasmania relatively freely.

Please don’t take this as the definitive advice - please visit the OFFICIAL site so that you can reliably check your specific circumstances, but overall the message is good news for those of you who have been putting off your plans to head to Tasmania for a spot of fly fishing.

And, while the influence of COVID remains, for the time being I have adopted a policy of guaranteeing deposits are refundable or transferrable if COVID interferes with your travel. I realise people are worried about the potential for deposits to be lost or tied up, so I think this reassurance is important. I also ask clients to give me as much notice as possible of any need to cancel. As has always been my policy, I do ask for full payment prior to the actual fishing days.

Please get in touch if you want to start planning a visit.
